Stephen Huff's
BEND YOU
Thursday, May 20, 2004

prisoner, I see you, crawling on your knees
prisoner, I hear you, though I am deafened to your pleas
prisoner, I know you, you are black as the darkest night
prisoner, I loathe you, though your crimes be gross or slight
prisoner, I mar you, for I am your chief disease
prisoner, I maim you, since you might easily be me
prisoner, I watch you, because a killer must ever long to kill
prisoner, I break you, as these bars must bend you to my will
