on a whipcord smile, bleeding all the while
ginger come the fever
a sleeping babe and weak
dream and turn the other cheek
to your brother, bloody murder
with a delicate touch and true, her skin the faintest blue
she merges with the Other
that she’ll never be back again
this the greatest sin
and her killer’s slightest burden
