EVERY MORNING
March 11, 1996
every morning, burning,
the loud shedding of mornful tears,
every daybreak, sorrow,
somewhere near or far from here,
every morning, terror,
where small babes are put to death,
every noontime, hangings,
as chaos must ever reap its debts,
every sundown, hunting,
the prey both beast and man,
every sunset, bleeding,
while here pleasures lie at hand
