Stephen Huff's
MISCONSTRUE
03/94
Once dreamed
the dreamer
a dream he was awake,
and walked
a mile for nothing,
found nothing there
to take,
and talked
a while
with no one,
for there
was no conversation
left to make,
and used words
old and molding,
with a tongue
gone rotten through,
and formed them
without thinking
as thought
was naught to do,
and vainly
pondered the color
of a sky clearly
colored blue,
and wondered
at his nature
to find more nothings
to misconstrue.
