Kendrick quivered and sobbed silently. Teeth painfully clenched and eyes smashed tightly shut, he screamed into the muffle of his breast and thrashed his head. "No! No! No! I won't! You can't make me!"
Outside his window, the sun turned across the sky, and its yellow glow rolled across his shades, causing the shadows to slither across his floors. Eventually, after the sullen beast had fallen still and quiet, Kendrick slept to dream of cold, crushing depths that swam with countless pale corpses… his own among them.
