With a violent, mortal shudder, he protested, horrified by the realization, "But they'll never know! They won't remember!"
Kendrick coughed up blood and laid back, the last of his strength faded. His eyes rolled dully, while he swallowed a gallon of his own blood and struggled to suck a final breath.
As he perished, he heard his secret monster laughing, laughing, laughing. "Evil…" he gasped mortally, "I have known such… evil." Then he died.
