"With all due respect, my liege, it is my belief that you have called me here to face the Mariner's Tribunal. It is customary to save at least one man for an example, is it not?"
"Yet I am not a captain." Epsilon waved the youth's fears aside and eased back comfortably in his chair. "No, Young Vernin, I have not called you here to lop off your head. Rather, I have called you here to save it."
"Save it how? Do you really mean to offer me a smithery, complete with tools?"
"Aye, and more business than you can handle in ten years! We are going to rearm this tired old Oreset, Vernin, and set her people on the path to freedom. Yours will be the strong arms to forge her new iron bones! Yours and your brothers’ when they are of age."
