"But you have. I see the way you handle your underlings at the Swooning Dragon. Ruling Oreset will be no different. You merely decide what needs to be done, formulate a plan of doing it, gather up the necessary men and supplies, and then set out to finish the job. Simple.
"As for experience, you do not need it. What you need is money and property, which you have in plenty. Just glancing through your current holdings, I see you have title over much of the free lands outside the walls. Therefore, it is you and your government that will feed the people in the future. Without your benevolence, they will starve.
"Be generous during the first few years. Feed the hungry, heal the sick, house the homeless, and employ the unemployed. There is much that needs to be done in this city. Establish a vast public works to rebuild the walls and pave the streets and clean away the filth. Pay your workers well, you have enough money to do so for a time. Once the economy is primed with enough free cash, jobs will arise where only poverty existed before, and you will see an explosion of growth.
"Your first priority should be the reconstruction of the bloodstone wall that surrounds your so called market. This was a primary interior defense at one time, and I suspect your last king once used it to protect the heart of his governmental works. All of the changing houses are installed within, as are a great many other public buildings. As you will see from the deeds you have signed, I have selected your courts and other departmental buildings from within this structure's domain. There they can be easily patrolled and defended by the garrison of your palace, which also lies within the bloodstone's harboring arms.
"While you are about these repairs, have your palace reconstructed. Hire up all the masons and carpenters and artisans that you can, and finish it quickly. This alone should be a significant symbol of your might and will and authority. Yet be careful not to be too lavish in its construction. Keep your home simple and rather plain, that the people might see you live and work humbly, as they do. Keep few servants and no slaves. When you travel, travel well protected, but ride your own horse. Show them that you breathe the same air, and they will not be dishonored to breathe it with you."
